UE4 offers no advantage over the previous offerings other than graphics and th eability to natively lock out modding and asset snatching.
But of course it comes with all the built in commercial favoring UE baggage.
I played Grid Autosport in 2014 that too had some peer to peer system. The host was transferred to another player if current one leaves without casuing any disruption to the session. You could even make someone else host of the lobby if you dont want to be the one. It had voice chat, text chat, collisions, voting and everyting else you logically expect. I am from India and played full grid races with people from Europe and Russia on my then so so Internet. The netcode was good enough to detect collsions properly for some very entertaining close racing action.
Ride 3 multiplayer is so basic and useless for a 2019 game. I on the best stable Fiber internet I can get and play FPS games like R6 with no major issues. This game MP experience on the other hand is horrific. Maybe Milestone should learn a thing or two from other developers. Skills as an employee tend to stagnate if you get too comfortable doing same rubbish year over year :)
