I agree with ya 100%...
Most of the time, you can skirt the problems by just buying and maxing out the best possible bike for the PP, but when you have to use a specific bike, its silly sometimes.
I agree fully here. Maybe the top 3 finishes would have been far more fair.
This career has been marketed by Milestone as revolutionary. But so was the H bomb.
Somebody fupped up here :-/
Only other thing is when I struggle to get gold I then concentrate on sorting the bike setup. Without experience doing so would be a struggle for sure. It is rewarding if you pull it off, but some events are harder than others for sure.
The weekly challenge is a bit harsh, but a ghost I raced was right on it.
Here is why :-)
I am no spring chicken at 55 years old and sometimes my hands tingle and I believe it could be early signs of arthritis and general signs of middle age. The practical and relevant side of this is that I am not as sharpe mentally and physically as a younger person but my heart and head still hold the same passions as when I was a younger man. IE, I love bikes and I love bike games - it's simple.
The lack of acceptance of an older audience is poor enough in todays world and while I accept my personal limitations I do not think it is an excuse for any business to limit them further. Even the gaming business.
A simple example :-)
A few small game mechanics via options could simply give the game a wider audience with the same opportunities for a pleasurable experience for all groups of people. Stop limiting your game by making it too difficult for the wider audience. Imposing rules just closes opportunities.
Here's the slogan and strapline - give old farts a chance.
Sorry - perhaps a more philosophical approach to game design would not go amiss in this industry too ;-)
TLDR. Options for success in gameplay terms are limited by developers lack of insight.
Signed old fart, young heart.
Edit. What the hell am I on about nurse?! Give me that valium right now!
I'm sure MS will take your feedback in to consideration. I feel this game is wonderful if you know it already (we will see in time), and I enjoy it way more than if it was too easy. Bike games are a real niche, I think it was a good choice to cater for the target audience. Hopefully future updates can refine it to a fairer compromise where times are achievable without mastering all there is to know. But for those who strive to be 'up there' then it is a great challenge that is welcome!
I enjoy a challenge like the next man but we all have our own personal levels and anything that can assist us to achieve our own goals on our own terms would be welcome. To me (and I am sure most of us) It's all about fun and yet one thing stands out in many game these days is that few like to grind - because I have never seen anyone who appears to enjoy that.
After my post above I have to say, and have said elsewhere I am enjoying the game but after posts from others I am also understanding there is so much discontent that cannot be ignored. Most of that discontent is based around the general difficulty in one form or another.
Target audience, what's that? We could all be the target audience if the devs didn't close the doors by dictating rigorous playing terms upon their audience and that I feel is what is happening here.
Yeah, been a biker since 1979 when I got my first Yam TY50 and then soon realised I should have got a fizzy :-)
Sadly after the Suzi GT 250 and the Superdream 250 (I liked it! LOL), the GS 750 and the wonderfully fun honda 50 or 90 (can't remember) I have had to go without. but that doesn't matter, I'm still a biker in my mind :-)
Just chatting... They were great days.
That's nice of you, fellow gamer...
Personaly I didn't know it was something bad, especially after all the talk that has previously taken place but hey I see the police are here to scare us all. Nice entrance bubba...
Do you want to come to a party I am having?
I agree. Not protests here :-) I like the game and for once that from me is praise indeed as I have seen for years the MS games being spewed out with absolutely no support or initial care in development.
My posts above have only been about giving fair choice to those who may feel they have been sidelined by a shortsighted dev with regard to options which make the enjoyment factor equal to all.
I think I have made all this clear now :-)
It is in my nature to stand back and see the bigger picture, even though some things don't necessarily affect me...hence the philosphical approach I have spoken about ;-)
