RIDE 3
Disappointing graphics!
I have to say the quality even @ 1440p on ultra settings is a bit of let down???
The textures look very poor!!!!
Is there maybe something I am missing???
Also the lag in the menus is so off putting!!!

I doubt we'll ever see graphics from Milestone that are on a par with Forza or Assetto Corsa or Project Cars. Not for a long time at least. That said, I don't think the graphics in Ride3 are bad. I actually quite like the vividness, though I can appreciate why some people call it cartoonish when compared to the aforementioned games.

Odd, to me the graphics look the opposite of vivid, I find it rather grey and washed out.
Maybe I just got used to HDR, which is unuseable here, not sure, but I feel everything lacks contrast.

A part of that may also be the super low shadow quality. No matter how many times I drive it, I keep getting surprised by the logo on Oulton Park bridge peeling itself out of the shadow-mud.
Imo in the graphics department MS really need to fix shadows and/or add a setting for shadow distance.

Textures are a mixed bag imo. Some tracks look really good, some seem to use outdated textures from previous releases. And someone please paint some fake shadows on the spectator billboards. ;)

the graphics are pretty crisp as far as UE4 goes, and Textures are fine as well. you could say that Garda Lake isnt super hi res but its still good looking.

With an i7 6700k @ 4.4 and a 1080ti mildly oc'ed I am disappointed. It looks a lot better than Ride 2 though. So far, I just wish this game sounded better and played better, those are the worst parts so far IMO. Numb and dead...

Fellas, I'm on a 9900k 5.0ghz all cores, and RTX 2080ti. It looks pretty good over here. I honestly wasn't expecting support for the higher end hardware from this game. I was pleasantly susprised. Now if only MS can get it together and get their next update out, that would be even nicer. The game runs great, and I'm not blaming the game for this because I am having issues in several other things; soung becomes garbled over HDMI. That's a card or driver issue. Just saying, it's not always what you hope for.

Agreed, the graphics jump was less than expected.

Agree 100%. Im maxed out at 4k here and things look pretty bad IMO. The trees look horrible. Bikes and tracks look good. I have blur set to high, it isnt intrusive at all and creates a much better sense of speed, and am just focusing on the bike and track naturally. For a whole new engine, this looks like the smallest little baby step. I felt the jump from MXGP 3 to MXGP pro was larger.

U would cry on this forum for a bad optimisation. Are u looking for bottlenecking or something ?? Can't u just be happy about a game well optimized for once ???

It's not well optimized AND the graphical performance is poor… regardless of hardware. That's the point.

Ride 3 would be amazing for $25 or if this was released 18 months ago. I refunded.

You can get if for around that price.

What?

Even with an old Xeon and a GTX 1070 and 16 GB DDR3 this game runs @ 1080p and max settings at 100 fps. o_O

The game is well optimized.

For better graphics and less blurr:

Antialiasing OFF
Depth of Field OFF
Motion Blurr OFF

After that it looks like Ride 2.

Framerate was not an issue with a 6700k 32gb ddr4 and 1080ti maxed at 1440p. I say it's not well optimized, because my gpu usage wasn’t pegged at 100% (like it should always be) and cpu usage never passed 40%. If a GPU is below 100% usage and there’s no cpu bottleneck, then that is poor optimization. The graphics were okay, but by no means outstanding. (even if it is a lot better than Ride 2)

Ultimately, I refunded because Ride 2 physics are better and that’s really saying something.

It`s hard to judge if a game is well optimized or not if it doesn`t remotely push graphic limits.

I think what we got is pretty much the xbox one X version, just that on PC we can have both quality and performance together, with a halfway decent system.

Ride 3 looks nice enough to me, but it is a pitty they make zero use of what a good system could do. I already said it before, but please at least let us increase the shadow distance / quality by distance. And maybe make Ambient Occlusion noticeable, I know there is a setting for it, but somehow it looks like it`s always off.

Optimization by reduction then ... other racing games draw dynamic shadows (headlights) at night, Ride 3 doesn`t do that. Probably a wothy tradeoff though.
