Because that is how Mr Milestone wants his game to be :-)
Why, because you are aren't skilful enough? Dig deep it can be done :-)
It's no different for any player whether a casual player of not if that person doesn't have the skill. If you don't get gold then you don't get gold.
After saying the time trials have rightly had a real bashing on these forums for being ridiculously difficult :-/
Also read this thread and see if it applies to/for you:

No I am not saying 'that somebody who play this game every day for hours doesnt have more skill and knows the tracks better than a player who play 2-3 times a week'
I am saying that it might just take you longer. There is no getting around this other than Milestone change the game - but sadly for you that is too late :-/ I do sympathise with your plight though.
I never played Ride 2 much and certainly not the career or whatever is going on in ride 2.
And yeah, I get the 'git gud' comments, but people's skill levels vary, whether it's at playing games, decorating cakes or playing the trombone. I'm not embarrassed to admit I've found some of the time attack challenges beyond my abilities, and because of that I gave up playing weeks ago, have no intention of buying the DLC and will not get RIDE4.
90% wasn't completed by myself as I took advantage of the save as a member here posted it for download. He also I believe was of the same mindset and had gotten it somewhere else. Only the last 2 or 3 DLC/Free content sets of games were completed by me - in the savegame I have now offered if anyone wants it for there own reasons. It actually is just a way around having to play it Milestones way or no way at all.
But if I were to be a career player who did want to complete it alone then I would be totally knackered as they (the time trials) are just way too ridiculous and while [GAU] >Captain Clio< [GER] is short of time, my problem is I am short of the patience to even bother with the single player time trials. I soon got bored when I found I am unable to complete them because they are beyond my skill level too.
So to finish, apart from absolutely hating the internet crappy phrases that choke the life out of real english speakers like 'git gud' Neither was I implying it as this post will now confirm :-)
As for skill levels, lol - try playing with hands and fingers that ache most of the time and are a result of getting old(er) on the ends of arms with the onset of arthritus or some such other age related thing! Failing eyesight and lack of attention span does not help either LOL.
I need more help than most. So I get it where I can. Perhaps Milestone could do a Ride 3 lite?
They may be open to suggestions on paper but my experiences are a little less positive than yours. Like actually doing something...
I think basically we are united in the ideal that this should be the case and as for fun this is something I have been saying on the forums for years and years including this one.
Luckily for myself I get enough pleasure out of this game and also as I didn't pay full steam price I am OK with that. But as for a complete balanced game then it is way below par and too pricey.
Greets from England :-)
I'll continue to keep my fingers crossed. I'm the guy who complained the trajectory line wasn't clear enough when the game was released (remember me, you took some screenshots for me?) and after reporting it to Milestone they patched in the improved 'active' trajectory line for colourblind players. I have had similar luck with them in the past when reporting bugged achievements or online voting glitches; they got patched. I don't think changing the career requirements from gold to bronze would take much coding. I'll just have to wait and see. :)
