+1 it's weird that Katakana Wars supported it, but Kanji Combat doesn't.

Agreed, it gave an extra incentive to grind out some more studying in katakana war.

But under the game's description it says steam is still learning about the game, and achievements aren't available until more people have interacted with the game. So hopefully they'll be added in time, as well as trading cards.

I've never bought a steam game so shortly after release, so this is all speculation.

Really? Because Yakuza 0 just came out a few days ago and I saw it had Steam Achievements and Trading Cards. I don't think it has to do with recent releases but I could be wrong.

Well, the Achievements is an easy implimentation. As for Trading Cards... it has something to do with purchased copies... as well as other factors. For the more well-known and powerful publishers... there are less hoops to jump through. For the AAA's... none if they want Trading Cards...

Monster Hunter World came out yesterday and has achieves/ cards, the reason is because Capcom is a big company with a good reputation, so steam gave them a pass, I imagine it's the same with Sega for Yakuza. However with small indie devs, who don't have the same reputation they have to "jump through hoops" as wrb41977 said.

Behind the scenes there is something refered to as a "Confidence metric" any game that doesn't reach a certain level with that will have:

No trading cards
A limit of 100 achievements
Achievements won't contribute to global achievement count and cannot be showcased on a profile
The game won't add a total to your library count and cannot be show in showcases.
The game won't be eligible for coupons.

This was implimented to combat "fake games" that unlocked 5000 achievements for pressing a button for example and Steam stated that these constraints won't negatively impact real games in any way. The "learning" about game refers to whether people are buying, and playing a game. My guess is that not many people have brought this, or, like me, have brought it, played it for a little while then got distracted by other things.

Also the dev could add up to 100 achievements to the game, but they have chosen not to for some reason.

+1, but if you add it I hope you can make it so that you don´t have to replay from the start to get the ones you´ve already earned so far

If anything the opposite would be better so you have incentive to get more practice in :p

Was just thinking this. Would actually replay the game just for the achieves.
It looks the issue here is more about steam itself, since it's shown on the front page that "Steam is learning about the game", if you hover to the "?" icon you're going to see what's going on....

Probably the game needs to achieve some progress in something to make it available with all the features...

That's not the issue. The dev can add up to 100 achievements. Try reading the thread next time.

+1 to add an achievement for completing this game

It would be nice if they did. To my knowledge, the beta was the full game with the exception of the bugs included.

I don't really have another reason to play again until achievements are available as I have physical study materials on my desk in another room :\

The beta was the full game. We actually had to say we would complete the story in order to become a beta tester. Though I know a lot of people didn't even bother since we got an email from the dev saying that a very small amount of people actually sent in their bug list. I pointed out a few bad audio files but I don't think they changed that. They did of course fix the game breaking Priah (however you spell her name) bug while we were still in testing. I actually saved all the versions of the game but I'm pretty sure I lost them because I probably didn't back them up before I reset my PC. I have no idea why I even said all this but yea.
