-Name of the song in the trailer?
-What price are you guys aiming for?
Thanks in advance
Do the enemies have the ear-piercing voices from TDS builds or is it something nicer like Jameson or the classic games?
The song is "The Trees" by Oliver Lyu. The full version is played in the game's main menu. The original music (by Andrew Leys) is still in the game though as menu music for Forever and Successor, with a previously unreleased ancient track from back when we played music together for Impostor.
$9.99 USD with a 10% launch discount.
Voices are all back to the classic audio, not the TDS stuff. And they have a heck of a lot more to say now thanks to Cassandra Khaw fleshing out the world.
Thank you for the info Farbs!
Oh and Ozzatron, re TDS hacking, it's totally fine to do whatever you like with it so long as you don't distribute the game to anyone else. Heck you can even post instructions for rewriting the random seed, that's all cool. Have fun!
Also, instructions? I'd distribute an .IPS patch file, similar to what various ROM hacking communities do (e.g. Super Mario World hacking). You'd need the game for the patch to be of any use, and it doesn't distribute anything but the changes.
That being said, thank you for easing my conscience. Now I'll stop clogging up your welcome topic with old baggage from an older game.
If the remix is in this new trilogy I might hold off buying until it comes out?
The trilogy are the three Farb-crafted games. The remix was made by a different developer, so don't feel like you need to wait!
Also, if you want a preview, you can always play a bit of the original Captain Forever in your browser: http://www.captainforever.com/captainforever.php
So, yep, Remix was an offshoot of the main series made by a friend. It's cool. I really like it. "Trilogy" is the original (and very bare bones) Captain Forever, plus Captain Successor (which has a lot more content) and Captain Impostor (which is a much faster game mode more focused on flying interesting ships).
So, yeah, you could get cartoony fun Remix, neon glowy Trilogy, or (best option IMO) both! :)
It should be pretty easy to get a feel for each game within the refund time limit, so it should be safe to give 'em a go.
I'm hoping that version supports controller and fullscreen.
Someone in a different thread said that one of the older ones is slower paced so I think I would like that a little more.
Fullscreen yes, controller no unfortunately. Forever and Successor require mouse to be able to build your ship. Trying to do that with a thumbstick cursor while also flying around would be a nightmare! Impostor is mostly about piloting though, so could work okay with a controller mapped to keyboard inputs. There's no native controller input unfortunately but I believe there are a number of free programs out there that can handle that mapping for you. GlovePIE is particularly useful for that, and adding autofire to mouseclicks for clicker games :)
Forever and Successor are a little slower I think. Impostor is quite frantic!
I wish I could sell it to you right now, since the build is finished and ready to go. But launching a game takes time. 9 days to go...
