Do different animals need different food?
I noticed that if i feed my cats and dogs fruits, their bowl icon doesn't disappear - do they require meat? I mean, it is realistic but kinda annoying

Yes, they need different food. Easiest is just to feed cats and dogs fish, since those are plentiful.

I have tried feeding my dog with fish and the bowl icon still doesn't disappear, dunno if this a bug or not.

It disappears just fine for me. Make sure you're feeding the correct pet. It can be annoying if you have multiple following you.
