Uncle Bill absolutely adopted us just to sell us to Fairweather, right? The contract says you have to give up your body at age 60 and you'll be given an orphan if you don't have any biological children to replace you, and Bill is at the right age to be 60 after the time skip. And the wiki says he's "dead" after the timeskip.

But Fairweather sells you the Kynseed. Your uncle would own it and have the Kynseed tree already, for when he pulls the seed out to pass it on.

Technically we don't know what happens before the first day in summer. He could have made a deal with Mr Fairweather years ago and never planted the Kynseed thinking he was safe but he was still compelled to get 2 orphans anyway and now Mr Fairweather has made a contract with you using the same seed.

My original reply went on about how I'm writing it and that's the way it is blah blah...but then I thought, let them have their fun conspiracies, and how can I as the writer, slip more opportunities for such things in ;-)

I totally thought the same thing, and figured that he became your brother (the way that the contract has you become one of your children), and was at the end of his 1000 year contract, so that's why he's peacing out on you. So now you need the kynseed to continue with a new contract.
