How do I get the key out of the pig

I had assumed the 'gassy' items would do it but they just turn the pig into a balloon. I want to unlock the mine enterence on our farm and I need that key.

Ah, doing that, I just kill the pig :( (Anyone know if there is other way? Or will I be able to buy or find another piggy ( only saw cow farm, not sure if there is other animal farm around. (time too short to explore at the moment)

in the area south of the town where you can buy and sell things, go down a bit and to the left and there's a pen area that says there's a pig market on the 6th and 13th of summer

i just uncovered some lore that refers to an item that caused a cat to throw up..i haven't tried it yet but am guessing this is what needs to be used.

I can indeed confirm that there's at least one other way to get the key from the pig in a (slightly) more humane way. 😉

I shook the tree and saw the gassy apples, but when I grab them they never show up in my inventory, am I doing it wrong?

Do you have the scroll that lets you identify gassy objects? It's on the farm, near where you exit to the south, you have to use your fishing pole to grab it.

Thanks, I'll go check it. I killed the pig before my little girl came home from school and she wanted to play. Got my save file over ride cos there's only 1 auto savefile. So before I get another pig, I'll choose not to kill the pig to get the key. I can go in to the mine with blue key from Jeremie Smith.

i just gave this potion to the pig and got the green key.

maybe wrong item that the pig ate? my trees had rotten apples after i was adventuring and didn't do the daily offering at home.

Yeah, like the poster above me said, cabbage will work. I didn't want to kill any of my pets, so I was glad when I discovered cabbage being an alternative to getting the key.

is there a way to get the key if the pig is dead? i didnt end up reading the sign until it was dead i just assumed like all the ofer keys it would be given by an NPC. please help i don't want to start from the beging yet
