Mars Truck not charging?

Built a Mars truck. has 0% charge. ( I get that ) ... so it has sat in "daylight" for 2 Sols with no solar / wind / generators attached. Truck still at 0%. It has solar panels on the roof of the cab. I thought they were "self-charging". Has this changed or is this another bug?

Never mind .... it charges ... just REALLY SLOW,

You can open the engine hood and take out the battery and charge it in a battery charger, or you just connect it with a cable to the solar panel. It's faster than the charging with the "built-in" solar panel.

Sol 4 ... no rack charger yet. The 5kW panel as bad as the self charge. But I have 25 kW into habitat... which is not used all the time ... so I allocate that resource into the truck. Waste not ... want not... ( sometimes you need to think outside the box )

It does .... just really slow.
