What good is an Antenna for?

So I unlocked second stage of electronics blueprints and there is an "antenna", supposed to enhance radar range. I build it and provide it with up to 10kw of power but it doesn't look like it is doing anything?

Edit: Went back into the game and the antennas were not doing what I thought they were when I placed them. All they seem to do is put a green circle on the map display. So I still don't know what they are for.

Antennas give you the possibility to manage things in base, and, with the proper techs - to remotely drive rover and fly drone

First, on the antenna tech tree icon it says "Antennas boost your tablet range" I am not sure what that means, but I am guessing that it means that when controlling vehicles they can go further? But how do you control a rover remotely?

you need to have remote controller. It has poor range at the beginning. Then, somewhere alter in tech tree, there is another tech called afaik additional antennas range control - if you are not sure, check the descriptions, and that allows you to use remote controller with rover and antennas.

I got a remote this morning well test play due to save problems, but all I could do with the rover was drive it around, are there plans for us to use the rover to it's current full use, i.e. drill, weld and grab?

you need to press tab with the remote controller, i dont think you can switch to the drill or welder without being inside the rover but you can pick stuff up.

What about expanding tablet range. Are there plans to implement it too? Or it is only about remote controller?

I mean, when I drive away from the base, I can see new stuff like bases and such. It would be nice feature if building antennas away would make it visible permanently, after I go back to my base.

At first when i build the 1st antenna thats what i thought they were meant to do with radiocommunication with diverse electronics like rover etc

during todays stream we showed new feature of the antennas - you can use them (hack them) to download data, which can be used on science workbench to gin some more XP

That's because it's an Antenna, and NOT a Radar.

Antenna's are for Comm's, and do what they're suppose to do in the game, and that's to extend the Comm range of the Rover & Drones.

Now if we had a Satellite, GPS or Remote Camera's... that would do the trick.
