Well I'm done with this game

So after an hour of trying to escape the base at the start with those STUPID green lights that just lead you back to the start point I'm done with this game. I purchased a base building game NOT a action platforming one. I HATE platforming games especially with clunky controls like this. Getting to the rocket is easy but trying to find your way to the escape pod is impossible. Guess I wasted $40.

I wonder who specifically held your hand and did not let you click "start a free game."
Because the whole plot is LITERALLY about escaping the base and then the free survival game starts, so all this could just be skipped. Personally, I enjoy the game and have never triggered a storyline.

Try playing the Freeplay section - it starts as if you just escaped and now you have access to the game past the annoying ‘escape’ part - if you pick ‘Tourist’ difficulty you will get a Heavy Rocer at the start

I Had the same issue. I see the latest patch now allows to skip this after 3 trys. AND as Shanna said, I went to Free Play and am having fun with the game.

I considered free play but when trying to find out how your meant to escape I saw comments that part of this reason this section was there is that there are similar sections later. They may not be timed but they are still platforming with clunky controls on laptop. I may come back when it moves from early access and the bugs are ironed out for free play but right now no I'm done.

Well, now I know where all these abandoned bases come from on Mars, which I will gladly take apart )))

It literally holds your hand and only lets you go the correct way.... Just knock down the O2 container and you are free to escape. Otherwise you literally only have to go to the open doors.

I had the same problem because I'd try to follow the green lights, but one path forks right without lights and i went left a few times before i figured that out.

I'll have to agree with the original poster on this one, the "escape the base" beginning part is a rather sudden difficulty spike that some people won't like very much. Only 13% of players so far have gotten the achievement for escaping the base...

EDIT: lol, OK it went up to 40% now.

i agree and went straight into freeplay after beeing forced talking the npc fake Doctor.

Campaign. Oh yeah. I clicked free play, then i click yes i mean it, Then madman everything. In my head as the pod is landing: Ohhhhhhhh yeah the pain. ;)

On the beta branch public_testing on Steam there's a new version in which we added button to skip the escape sequence after 3rd death.
