I'm being blocked by a certain abandoned tablet.

I can't progress in the electrical tree because of a certain missing tablet. I've gone to all abandoned buildings within my reach and I keep finding tablets for much later techs.
is there a way to cheat a tablet in? I don't find this mechanic cute at all.

No, but was is done is Save, use the tablet, not what you want, Reload save, use the tablet, etc etc. The tech given is random so at some point you should get the one you want.
Good luck with sitting through loading times though. I don't have the patience so far.

The RNG is not as random as it seems. After 20 re-loads I kept getting the same two tablets over & over. I think it's just best to take what you find & not waste time.

at the beginning 4 tablets are must have. Then, there is some randomisation, but tablets closest to your current tech level have biggest chance

I just unlocked the science table in the electricity tab, but all techs in the next box are greyed out, even those that do not need a tablet tech to unlock... what do I need to do to progress?

Build the electricity workbench (science table) and continue research from it.

I cant update my scanner because I am locked behind night vision, IMO I think just finding a tablet should let you choose the unlock, I really hate RNG stuff and don't want to play the save reload til I find a decent outcome.

I have 8 pts in energy that I cant spend due to RNG, I need to focus on endless grinding to find calcium yet I have to spend time travelling looking for tablets.

I had 18 points in electrical before I found the tech needed for medium solar panels... This tech is a massive game changer and it took me 20+ outposts and 30+ hours of game time to find it.

It did feel good to drop 8 points into electrical immediately upon learning it.

I did use the save scum method fairly early on (15+ hours in?) to get the grinder 3 tech. I figure if the abandoned tablets can spawn beneath bases, I can c̶h̶e̶a̶t̶ use creative solutions to solve problems.

1) Be sure to switch in the options "show interactive elements -> always"

I am trying now to reload over and over to get grinder 3, but I keep getting greenhouse, main hq, scanner 3, antenna control, rover etc. I've reloaded över 30 times now, I'll keep going, but does the grinder 3 have a prereq I don't have?

I don't believe it has any special prereq. I'd recommend getting 3+ tablets and then doing the save scumming. You only have to get lucky once.
