Does anyone know how to complete the "Cooking Vegetables" and "Hot Repair" achievements? I no longer know what to do. I set fire to the plants in the greenhouse, and broke the tank with methane with a jackhammer and a circular saw, and then repaired it. Achievement never received it.

I did get Hot Repair. That was easy. I build a well, and a reactor with a methane tang on it. I believe I then had to run a hose to a separate vertical methane tank, if I'm not mistaken. Anyways, then you just grind for a few seconds on the tank to cause damage, and then repair with the blowtorch. I have not been able to get Cooking Vegetables to work, however.

I managed to get the Hot Repair achievement by building a methane tank (attached to a sabatier), grinding it a bit, and then repairing that damage. Never tried for the Cooking Vegetables.

Is there more to the Cooking Vegetables achievement or is it a bit bugged at the moment?

On this Campaign save my Greenhouse is pretty toasty, and my tomatoes, beets, and potatoes are definitely cooked. Yet no achievement.

I believe you need Methane in a free-standing Vertical Tank - as opposed to a Methane Tank attached to a Well. Horizontal tank probably works too.

Build a Well. Add a Sabatier unit and a Methane Tank attached to the Sabatier. Supply at least 5kW power to the Well. Build a Vertical Tank and connect the Methane Tank to its input with a hose. Wait a daylight hour for some Methane to be generated and transfer across. Take your Grinder in hand and partially scrap the Vertical tank, 25% will do. Then repair the Vertical Tank and your achievement should pop up.

I finally got Cooking Vegetables! I can only unlock the achievement once so I can only comment on what happened to work that one time I unlocked it.

For me, it only worked with Corn in a Field. Some plants seem to catch fire easily, but not so Corn. With the plants at about 70% growth I cut off the water, slept for a bit and let them wither away to about half health then took a blowtorch to one of them. The blowtorch seems to act as an accelerator for withering on Corn. When the withering progress bar made it all the way to zero the Corn plant caught fire and I got the achievement.

The mad thing is Corn isn't even a vegetable! Like the Tomato (and Pepper & Pumpkin) they're technically fruit.

Cooking vegetables is done by taking ONE withered corn with 0% HP left and dropping it on the floor (in my case a small dome). Then hold the blow torch to the withered corn on the floor. It will catch fire and grant the achievement.


The hot repairs is done as described above. You can use the long horizontal tank as well. You just need a tank connected to a methane reactor, damage it while containing methane and repair it to 100%.
