Ya know ... unlocking the Chemistry tech tree would be a REALLY NICE Christmas present in the next update. Just saying ...
Chemistry would take less work in matter of coding and testing but design phase would be longer.
We have some nice ideas for chemistry but we had to choose, chemistry or coop.
Honestly at this point Co-op should have been the final core mechanic to be implemented since it wasn't the first. You're going to end up spending the better part of a year just on bug fixes and balancing issues for co-op while everything else falls by the way side and quite honestly there isn't nearly enough content to really even justify playing in co-op much right now when you can go from a fresh save to everything done by one person in under a week.
Sure co-op assuming there's going to be the ability of dedicated servers might be a temp boost in sales, but lack of content / content updates is going to lose you player retention, especially with the last big update adding so little unpolished content.
