How to use dome to grow things?

I built a large dome. Put a composter in it. Put silicon and waste mater in the composter. I think the next step is for me to build fields inside the dome? But when I try to do this, I can't actually build fields. The highlight for them is red no matter how I orient or position them. So I'm thinking fields aren't the answer? So how do I actually grow things in the dome?

You have to go to the control panel for the dome and add the soil just like you do with the greenhouse fields, then you can plant things. I forget what the max soil needed is so just type something huge like 500 and it'll automatically set to the max for that size dome.

Thanks Cursed. I never did the greenhouse so didn't have that experience to draw from. I was growing more potatoes than I could eat so wasn't really pressed to expand. I think I got it all figured out now.
