place it on hotbar, press corresponding number, aim on the building and press LMB. The big one is used in the same way as tools, its just one time.

Or simply have repair kit in the inventory and right klick on the damaged item and select "repair" if you want to repair something like your helm or torch / grinder / etc.

Universal repair kit is for buildings and vehicles, repair kit is for tools, helmets, etc.

There is no option to repair anything when right clicking. I only have Drop or Equip. Is the repair kit usage a tech that I need to acquire? I have a universal repair kit, which I see in this post is for buildings, not for tools. I was able to sort of repair a blow torch and the grinder with the universal repair kit but it is super jenky. I found dropping the tool on the ground (and it has to be the actual ground or else it completely disappears), then equipping the repair kit and click on the tool. It usually doesn't work for the grinder but somehow I was able to do it once. Trying right now for a second time since the grinder wears out stupidly quick. That must be changed.

Found out by trial and error:

It seems one can repair tools in the inventory with drag and drop.
Drag the repair kits over the tool and drop it there. It consumes one repair kit and the tool gets repaired.
(if it wasn't a fluke?)

Was this a regular repair kit or the universal repair kit? I just tried with the universal repair kit and it did nothing. I had played this a while back and had everything you could have. I'm not thrilled about starting over since I was that far. I think I'll just wait a bit more till some more stuff gets fixed. They have a good bit to go.

Yeah, sorry - i was talking about the regular one. It's a bit confusing that both have "repair kit" in the name.
As LukaszP statet - the "big one" is meant to be used on buildings (and vehicles maybe?) - not for things in the inventory. He is the developer, so i guess he knows what he is talking about... :-)

Universal repair kit

When can I use it to repair (my) destroyed buildings or parts of buildings that have 0 HP?
The radius and strength of the lanterns could be increased threefold. When I look out of my window, the ones on my street are 5 times as bright and powerful in my real life.
Why are games only ever developed half-heartedly?

Deutsch:
