How to put stuff in ATV storage

Like the question asks. I can see there are 5 slots to hold things, but I cannot for the life of me, figure out how to put stuff in it.
When I click on the objects in my inventory, nowhere does it give me the option to move it to storage. So I thought, "it's just overflow". Nope, crate I'm trying to get mats form says I'm full up.
Saw online that someone in a video months ago, had the option to open it up and then it showed on the right side slots while the inventory was open, but that's not an option for me.
Help please?

Is the entire storage unit being lifted up when you try and use it? This was happening to me until I went to the end of the Quad and a "Use" message came up. Left click when that message appears and the storage unit should open for you.

I cannot drag and drop it because when I press I for inventory, only my backpack shows up. If I go into the screen to see vehicles, then I can see the storage and it acts just like the backpack and fills the screen. There is no visual connection between backpack and storage so I cannot drag and drop.
