What is the point of the Lobby and Canteen?

You can't put anything in the Lobby and the Canteen is just a big, 6-slot empty space. I was really hoping that the canteen would have a water dispenser. The Lobby just appears to be cosmetic. It would be great if both of those actually served a purpose instead of being cosmetic/a more expensive workshop.

Maybe they planned on adding more things (tables, cabinets for storage, water bottle refill, oxygen bottle refill, etc), but after 5+ yrs of development, you'd think they would have thought this through a bit more before adding this "content" to the game.

The lobby has potential i think. The canteen i find quite useful as it's basically a pod full of empty bays that i use to build things like extra storage, food processor, 3D printer, any work benches i don't have space for if i've deleted my workshop, etc. I find it more useful than the HQ building. The suit charging point is also very useful. I'd like to see an 02 & H20 charging point there too. I suspect though, that both buildings are a work in progress and the devs have long term plans for them.

These are locations in Alpha Base from the original campaign intro, so if like me, you're goal is to rebuild it in a new, safe location, you need them. Some simple furnishings like a table and chairs would be nice however. There is a plan to build decor items, as there is a whole tab for them in the workshop 3D printer. However, most are greyed out. Things like tables, chairs, desks, etc. should really be blueprints, however, I would think. Either way, all tech trees have a "customization" tech by the workbench tech, so I'm thinking it may have something to do with that. Either way, looking forward to things being added to keep the canteen from looking so sad, lonely, and empty. That idea of a sink or water dispenser in there in really good

The lobby is used for the wardrobe which allows you to equip the heavy suit.

They will make more sense in multiplayer and when they add NPCs.
