Yes but i could invite you over for dinner now as i've finally discovered apples, pumpkin, cabbage and some other veggie who's name eludes me at present. Apparently here on mars we are all vegan so no burgers for us sorry about that! :)

Maybe the Dev's should throw in Soy Beans .... then we can make Soy meat burgers and Tofu..... and who was supposed to bring the Eggs from Earth.... or another way would be, get Day old chicks, hibernate them, then we can build a chicken Dome.

So Far I've found:

Poplar
Spruce
Pumpkin
Corn
Beetroot
Pepper
Cabbage
Lettuce
Apple

Will be interesting to see what concoctions I can come up with when I get properly setup.

With all the potatoes I have (something like 600 maybe more ) can make Vodka.
But then we would need Orange trees as well... Can make Bloody Mary's with the Tomatoes though, Dev's could you please modify the fridge so it makes Ice Cubes, ohhh and Celery would be nice as well. Throw in a couple of Chili's to make hot sauce.

Actually come to think of it with oranges you can make orange liqueur, combined with the vodka you could make Harvey Wallbangers, I can see people making hooch parlours!

While i like the idea of being invited for dinner, being the main course would leave me feeling like i'm playing the forest rather than trying to grow one

Gives me the idea of mixing Wheat and Tomatos to make tomato sandwiches in the game. Which aren't to bad for a healthy snack to me.

for now you can only make MRE from vegetables, but we are planning to add food recipes in the future (like pizza etc)

The developers have already mentioned that there will be (some kind of) a distillery in the upcoming chemistry tech tree. We'll see...

Apart from that... i don't think there is such a thing as the best MRE for everyone.
The nutritional value is a range for every recipe. One may be after the maximum possible nutritional value while others are prefering a more predictable result, even if the average value is slightly lower.

Plus: tomatoes without pepper are inedible in any combination...

Best MRE really depends on what you're looking for. Pumpkins seem to be high in nutrients but they only fully grow in domes and grow super slowly with a low harvest amount. Beetroots grow fairly quick in comparison to other plants and have fairly high nutrients while being able to grow in the same devices as potatoes.
