There is a bit of story, however the main focus is on survival elements, such as crafting, maintaining your resources, oxygen and h2o levels, building a base, and living a happy life on the Red Planet.
Or just survive until you die of boredom?
Are you refering to subnautica or subnautica below zero?
As far as I remember there were 2 kind of gamers... Those who liked the story mode and those who prefered the sandbox experience. I think there were a lot of disagreement about the differences between those 2 games.
But I have to say, they should dump the controls on the CO2 scrubber. You've got tons of different devices with their own control circuitry, yet this one piece of gear overheats, requires fiddling with valves manually, and can't just be set for a specific O2 output? Doesn't fit the vibe of the rest of the game at all.
And I do hope there is more tot he campaign then there is currently in the future as otherwise why should I go through an annoying and frustrating scenario like the escape vs free play?
It's just like freeplay. So if you want to start a new game without the tutorial bits, just create a free play game.
In another post, they mentioned they plan on expanding the campaign to have more of a story, but right now they are fixing more pressing bugs, etc.
The freeplay is better for those who just want to play in the sandbox.
The choice is yours.
I'm going to continue the campaign and can keep you updated if interested.
