How to mine with the rover, properly?
Ok, technically I know how to operate the mining drill on the heavy rover. What I wonder:

Is there a trick to not crush anything to the small player-collectable nuggets and instead stop at the bigger rover-collectable pieces?
Neither 3rd person view nor crane camera give me a good view on where the mining tip actually interacts with

thanks

If they are brown rocks, I use the drill of the rover. I only drill brown rocks, they vanish anyway. If some browns stay loadable (e.g. the last one), I load them too. It didn't happen to me to accidentally crush the resource parts then, after the first try where i needed to learn how it works.
I'm drilling using the camera from inside the rover.

If they are grey rocks, I get out of the rover and drill carefully by hand. Just enough to break them up for loading.

Not sure how much XP rovers drill gives, but once I got a new tecnology point just when emptying the tipper at the small rock crusher. So this looks to give XP too.

If it was that way and they change it I'm baffeld.
I'sn that the hole purpose of doing it with rover? To be more easy and effective compared to the jackhammer? Why give us easy way and then cripple it deliberetrly so dosent make any difference?

Did you compare how much resources you get, if you load the whole loadable block into your tipper, instead of drilling to hand pick sizes?

I nearly was shocked how much resources I got from one tipper, as I was hit unexpectedly.
Several hundreds to thousands of mixed resources just after drilling two rocks.

I really can't rant about efficiency of rover/tipper vs. hand picked.
I explicitly avoid crushing rocks into hand pick-able size.

just got the tech in EA where one can mine with rover + crusher... havent built the crusher yet..

but in beta - it was a simi pain to use the rovers drill - worked great, but a few times as others mentioned - i'd get out and use jackhammer to mine myself. plus sometimes the rocks would fall too close so you'd have to back up/move around to actually try and load the ore. (plus the whole having to pick it back up and drop 10+ times for it to actually get loaded right.....

in order not to throw it 10 times, you can simply lower it into the body, even if the piece sticks out over the sides, it will sink
