picking up cable/hose

My save is littered with cables I have no further use for. I can't pick them up, I can drag one end of it, but I can't pick it up and put it in my inventory. am I missing something?

Double click on the end of them to add them to your inventory, you don't even need to unplug the other end first neither.

Or just hold control and click the end of it

Another cabling tip, if you're running a really long length of cable like from a well etc and run out of it half way, you can leave it where it is, get more cable and then pick up the dropped end you left half way and it will recognise that you have more cable and allow you to continue on by dispensing what it finds in your inventory.
