Small Circuit Boards?
Watched a bunch of videos on this subject, I'm just not finding them, people say you can get them in abundance, I have a level 2 saw and nothing seems to be dropping for me, where can I get these?

You'll only get them occasionally when scrapping items that require a small circuit board when built, so wells and reactors won't drop them but ECU's and Battery Banks will sometimes.

Other than that, you can often find them inside the old bases (two story Habs particularly), but you have to open every panel (the white pedestal console's with a black screen), locker, container and Airlock (it's amazing how many items I've found sitting between the two airlock doors). Also check each desk and crate, you'll sometimes find them just sitting on top.

At the moment you can only get them by dismantling or searching the old bases. When you enter an old base, press the "Z" key on your keyboard and it will show you what you can find in the base besides scrap. Feel free to press the key more than once from different perspectives. The circuit boards are often hidden in cabinets or boxes. In the old HQ they are sometimes lying around openly on the upper floor.

90% of the time you will see them in panels and vehicles, they are broken in the vehical but right now the game construction can't tell the difference between broken and working ones and I guess a torch is a good way to fix them anyways, that is what a sodiering iron is but a more precise couple of tools you need the heat from a torch and a soder pin or gun.

Edit: I almost forgot the consoles appear to give random circuit boards, so do the lockers, and if there is a circuit board on top of a create one or more of the crates may have a circuit board.

So I guess the save and reload method doesn't work anymore, tried that a few times. I been playing the campaign mode which seems to just put you in the freemode after. Wondering if I'm staving for supplies cause of that and should have just started in freemode

Starting to feel like I'm gonna starve before these potatoes finish growing, I make daily trips out to find more food and stuff, not enough circuit boards to get 8 panels up and running so I only have 4 atm, with transistor and battery. (just got another transistor up for the 2nd set, but need 2 more boards to connect them all.)

Do you know there is an extender for the ECU? You will have to open the tech up, but it is there and better than what it sounds like you're doing. You also have a feature in the options menu where you can have objects highlighted without pressing 'z' and extend the range. As far as the relog method, that only works if the circuits have clipped below the surface. You would be able to see them if you look down. But honestly, there are plenty of small and other circuits. Their scarcity is kind of an illusion that happens at start.

Starving is currently not an issue. Although you won't be able to sleep, you just need to use medkits if your health gets low.

is the map bigger than what I can currently see? Fog of war?

I’m 10 km from my main base i heard of people being 20km the map you see id say about 1km is as far as you can see yes there a fog of war

I didn't find many until i started pressing 'Z' regularly as i was walking through/around disused bases and that's how i found them, along with a lot of other useful things like tablets.

The map basically keeps procedurally generating as far as you can go. I've been about 40km west of my base at one stage.

Can you live in the truck when you find it or build it? I can't imagine going that far without some sorta camp

Yes the Rover has a bed so you can sleep uninterrupted but to go that far out, you need to set up camps with some form of O2, water and power support. I used to set up on a well and tear it down when I charged up and filled both O2 and water. To do it just using the ATV also means setting up a survival capsule, which you have to unlock first.

For a starter camp, you can just set up a survival capsule, a well and a small solar panel connected direct to the Capsule. It won't have power when the sun goes down, but it can be slept in with your helmet on, and you won't freeze to death. When the sun is up it will provide top ups for oxygen and water which are the real crucial needs.

My current save, I've gone for the option of setting up permanent expedition camps at about 5km intervals (whenever I head out in a direction, I just set them up along the way). These can be named on the map so that they're always easy to find. These consist of the following:

A survival capsule (not for sleep, but for the oxygen production, I also stash a few MRE's)
A Well
Two Medium Solar Panels
Two ECU's
A battery with an extension

It's a little exorbitant, as it takes 3 small circuit boards each, but once you're out beyond 5km you tend to find lots of boards of all types in the abandoned stations.

I'll set up the expedition camp on a water supply (hopefully near a few buildings that need stripping) and set it up the following way:

The solar panels feeding their power to an ECU which is set to feed 100% to the battery. This is set to send a full charge to the second ECU which has 1 outlet set to feed the survival capsule with only 5kw (all that's needed for it to generate O2), the remaining power stays in the battery for when a vehicle recharge is needed. The well has its own solar so it can keep pumping away each day.

Each camp then has an abundant supply of water, air and power stored up for recharge as necessary.

If the developers still read these comments then i ask that you make it so you can print circuit boards in the 3d printer. if you're worries about it shifting the game balance then you good make it so it prints them unpopulated so you have to solder the components in.

I don't understand, I really have no shortage of circuit boards. The first boards are usually found in the base not far from the landing point. And that's where the broken ATV is. They are probably for the repair of the ATV. But I never use them for that but take the defective one out of the ATV and repair it on the workbench. The Quad I build later always completely new.

If you press the button "Z" should actually be able to see them even if the color white of the border is hard to see, is a bit unfortunate chosen this color.
