Game freezes and crashes while using Switch pro controller

Specifically Shenmue 1, could be an issue in 2 but haven't launched it yet. Performing specific actions/pressing specific buttons such as skipping cutscenes or opening the Diary trigger this freeze/crash. Game then becomes unresponsive and crashes to desktop.

I was having this same issue, here is what fixed it for me.

Under controller config go to browse configs.
Next choose templates.
At the bottom click show other controller types.
Scroll down and pick the one called Gamepad that is for Nintendo Switch Controller.

For whatever reason the premade template for the game doesn't work but this generic one does.

excellent thanks. i had this and just gave up with the game and played Yakuza instead. now i know of a fix i can get back into this

Hey mate. Where can I find this config? I'm lost. Is it through Steam->Settings->Controller?
