Keep in mind I'm still playing in the beta branch, so make sure to follow the steps in the pinned post to ensure you have the latest beta version.
1. Load the problem save, and wait for the sound to cut out.
2. Pause the game and go to Options>Audio
3. Change your Audio Output Device; this step will differ depending on your setup*. To be absolutely sure, apply the changes by pressing 2 (keyboard) or Y (360) and exit the menu. Then reopen the pause menu, this time changing back to your default audio device, and apply the change. This should fix the sound issue.
*For example, for me, I have 4 options: 1. VX2257 (My monitor), 2 different Realtek devices, and off. So when I'd have the issue, I'd change my output device to Off, then apply the change and exit the pause menu. Then I'd reopen the pause menu, change my output back to VX2257 (the default) and the sound would work again.
The problem ALWAYS without fail occurred at the point I mentioned in my original post. I fixed the issue and advanced further in the game, and the sound cut out again. The fix I used worked each time it occurred. The issue only happened these two times as far as I can remember. Maybe once more.
**The game crashed once when I changed the audio output device. Make sure you save regularly, at least once each game day.
Please let me know if this fixed the problem for you. I'm not actually sure what causes the issue but it seems to be some sort of bad code relating to your audio output device, perhaps it crashes or something and gets fixed when you change your output devices. I won't pretend to know what I'm talking about though.
