Personally I think they work fine mapped to the analogue stick now. Actually I think they did a little more work than that, this feels more natural than just remapping the d-pad to the analogue stick in Demul - which I have tried before.
If you were expecting 360 degree camera control and for Ryo to sprint nimbly through the narrow corridors of the Hazuki residence, well, sorry.
Is holding down a trigger that much of a bother? Maybe just rest the pad against your knee so that holds down the trigger for you.
