Direct damages can crit in the way Xalaron mentioned for Killer and Red Horn's tactics.
For DoT damages (e.g. damage over turns/seconds), critical rate and critical damage rate are used to calculate raw damages (e.g. 100 damage, 50%crit rate, and 150% crit damage rate = 100 * (1+(0.5*1.5)) = 175 raw damage value).
