You probably spotted this message after you killed the final boss and went ahead to pick your chest

"the rarity of the chests is significantly increased"

And I NEVER got anything else then a basic white chest from this. There are higher tier chests in the mix but I noticed that whenever this event happens 3-4 chests are of basic tier. So does my RNG simply su.ck or is it the game?

try to get resident that increase chest rarity too

When you pick the most basic chest, it gives you a 90% rarity boost for the NEXT chest you pick. It'll show the buff in the stat line at the top of the village screen (farthest right number) for chest rarity.

This buff stacks, so if you get multiple basic chests in a row, it'll give 90% each time.

The buff only lasts until you get any chest that's not a basic chest.
