Feedback on the Rework.
I just bought the deluxe edition and initially i thought it was because of the Crow, but then i realized that its that the entire planting system has been Reworked.

it took a bit to get Used to, but eventually i figured it out, and using Thyme, the game was way too easy, i was at year 5 i believe and i got the achievement on getting max yield on every season.

the good: i have to admit it is Much more simplified now, and i espescially like the Planter boxes thing i love it, its good, makes thing much more neat and easy to make them grow into supercrop, although i dont like the planting things in a row upgrade, most probably because i'm used to making 2x2 for supercrops, it makes the game much more simpler and like i said, i won a game on Year 5, when back at the old planting system i was struggling a bit.

the bad: as much as it makes the game Easier and simpler, though, i honestly prefer the old system, the Rework makes the farm Look bland in comparison, to new players it'll probably still look visually nice, but coming over from the old system, i love it when my farm looks like a mess of colors, theres a lot of beauty in all the different crops being planted together, And i still like the old seed system, where you have Seed rarities, it just tickles that part of my brain that loves it when RNG systems work together.
the difficulty in the new Systems is a bit unbalanced, feels to me like its way too easy, because you get the same seeds, its much easier to get supercrops now, and much easier to buy new guns every day and get your stats up, you dont need to think about which seeds to use because you want at least 4 of them.

the devs put their brains into the new system and make each run go much smoother, i can see the intent, and i'd say yeah job acomplished, its appreciated, buuuuuut, i presonally want the old system back, it really is just much more pretty and feels much more rewarding, eve if it is slower and harder, but after all, it IS a Roguelite, and i prefer my Roguelites to be able to kick my ass SOMETIMES with the RNG, this new one feels too easy BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY doesnt feel as rewarding when everything goes to plan

EDIT :
alright so i'm back after beating Year 6, and 7.
i cheesed it a bit by going back to year and beating it, so i get a significant boost early on with the time capsule.

i have new insights on the Rework now, it makes the game much smoother that you dont have to worry about planting stuff with the boxes, and if you focus on the nerd worm upgrades early on by leveling up the crops, you can snowball quite easily, and from then on all you have to worry about was the combat, after experiencing all this, i still stand by what i say, the devs did a very good job making the game run much smoother.

while i still have to adapt my strategy due to RNG in the game, i still do think this new system is too easy. now that i understand and appreciate more why the Devs did this, i wish that they make a hybrid of this new system and the more complex but slower older system, though i understand that thats pretty hard, i only have some ideas how that could work but balancing out all my ideas and accounting for all the possibilities in a Roguelite like this does seem like it would be a big undertaking.

yeah. I can fully agree. My statement to a friend was: I wish this rework would have been Atomicrops 2 instead of a patch. I like it, but not as much as the old system. I have yet to beat year 10 on either system, but I thought the challenges you encountered while farming where more interesting in the previous system. Now you barely touch your crops while defending them.

Would love a beta branch system like other games have, so I can roll back and run a different savegame on an older build.

While I like the system change, more or less; the best solution to this problem would be to offer up all of the systems in terms of "gamemodes"
Something like "Classic Mode", old weapon + crop system, and a "New" Mode or just let the player pick and choose to their liking.
It would pretty much make everyone happy, those who prefer the old systems can just pick those and those that prefer the new rework, can just stay on these, everyone wins!

Agreed, and seems to be what everybody else is saying

I'm a new player, just bought the game last week, probably have 5 hours in it. Honestly not sure if I want to keep playing it though, game seems really fast. The days seem extremely short to me. I spent all of fall at my base growing crops and I didn't make the quota for season end. I like the concept, if there was a way to double the time of days I'd be absolutely in to it.

This is how it felt even with the old systems. Atomicrops is very fast paced due to the number of days. You will get used to it and then realize if you had twice as much time you could clear a lot more, it just takes a bit of experience.

Yeah unlike the weapon rework introduced with the crow, I dislike this new rework.

You dont have to do anything to earn the 4x2's other then playing the game regularly.

i played some more and beat year 6 and 7 for the first time. mind you i dont hate the rework, on its own without considering the old type, its pretty good.

As a new player, I like the reworked system however, it is all I really know. The option to use a legacy crop mode would be the best option imo. I like the new system but for the people that have been playing this game for a long time, I think the option should be there as a greater challenge.

No all you have to do is right click the game and go to
Betas>public test, then start the game and theres a phonograph you toggle in the level/character select lobby on the left side. Youll know its working if you see musical notes coming out of it.
