The framerate is tragic.
At least on PS5. Is it better on PC?

I can't understand pouring years of work into developing a game, and then not optimize the engine to at LEAST maintain 30 FPS. (Really, 60 should be the minimum.) Outsource this work if you need to, but releasing it in this state is unacceptable. All your hard work in all the other areas are compromised, fatally for many.

An exploration-focused game with nice atmosphere that doesn't have NPCs following you around or yammering in your ear non-stop is RIGHT up my alley. But I don't know if I can abide sub-15 FPS performance for much longer...

what are your system specifications? I can play the game on an OLED Steamdeck at 90FPS, with all the settings turned up, I'd imagine anything over a gtx 1050ti, would easily do 60fps at 1080p.

i want to play more. but the forestry area is where i had to stop. you are right, I won't experience whatever they wanted me to experience

my system far exceeds this game's recommended spec and it easily hits 144fps. no matter what i set my framecap to (even as low as 30), the game stutters regularly when driving around. its very noticeable as the game hangs on a frame for a split second before jumping forward

I can't get consistent performance from this game under any conditions whatsoever. I've tested it on a range of hardware and platforms.

I was sorta trying this game for the first time, my PC has no issues running AAA games like Horizon but, I'm getting somewhat close to 15FPS right from the start :( really wanted to play this one..

But what is your cpu, ram, storage for the game (ssd or HDD), graphics card.

I'm baffled by people having issues with the game, runs perfectly on the Steam deck, which is considered as low specced, I've not tested it on my 2080ti yet,as I play the game handheld.

I’m playing on the Steam Deck as well(256GB original) and I’m having plenty of frame issues.

The game plays fine while Sable’s on foot, but things have trouble loading constantly on the bike. I can usually solve some of the slow down issues by getting off the bike and stopping for a second, but the game really can’t keep up with even the base bike’s movement. Sable regularly disappears from the bike too. That’s how I know I’m about to have some issues.

The game is still playable, and enjoyable for that matter, but I’m fighting against its optimization most of the time.

That is really odd, but I will say, I am using the 512gb oled model, I've gone into the bios and undervolted the cpu, gpu and the other one (check YouTube)

I'm running the free and easy to install Cryobytes (see YouTube).

So potentially, depending on if you have done the above, I might have a performance advantage..

Playing on 4070Ti and I'm getting constant stuttering
It's just bad, it's always been bad. One of the most unoptimised games I've played recently, I want to love the game but it's technical defiencies let it down so so badly.

playing on laptop, 3060 mobile, plays smooth, with very responsive controls, a pleasure to play to be fair

It is notoriously bad on PS5. Yes, it is significantly better on PC, though not perfect. Absolutely playable with a mid range PC.

They did reach out to companies for help with the PS5 version but simply couldn't afford the costs. I understand the reality of that, and also not being able to get it running on PS5 properly, but that being the case they should never have released it on that console.

Interesting. Thanks for the insight.

Framey, stop motion adjacent animation is by design. The terrible stutters and performance drops are not. People genuinely complaining about motion sickness and I can understand why.
Some truly baffling design choices made here.

Just noticed people talking about GPUs a lot. If you are able to check your GPU usage, you'll find in areas with low FPS the GPU isn't struggling (at time mine wasd <40% usage, with <20% VRAM used). It seems to be CPU bound (I haven't tested RAM but can't see that being the problem). I upgraded my CPU and got a decent boost.

Even then it gets stranger. CPU usage is also low, usually < 70% - but every core is being used. If you disable cores 1 at a time you'll gradually tank your FPS but the remaining cores still stay at relatively low speeds. This is while standing still for a significant amount of time, so it's not the background loading of the world.

How they made something so simple required 12+ cores to get a steady 60fps is beyond me.
