How does Fishing work??

So I have the rod, I cast - I wait.
Bop Bop Bop
I hit E and the bar comes up - but no input seems to work? Am I missing something, because the game won't tell me what to do and I've tried like 10 times and keep loosing the fish - the UI doesn't seem to clearly explain what it wants from me!? TT_TT

If you're using keyboard, you use A + D to follow the fish along the bar. Works like Stardew Valley fishing.

A&D don't do anything for me, not even "Aim" before casting - just nothing. Guess I can't fish then! :/

The only solution I can think of is using a controller instead of M&K. (Un)happy fishing!

me the solution I found is to activate "easy fishing" in the settings.

strangely, after activating the "easy fishing" mode and after catching a few fish, the A and D keys work again!

Hi. Same here with a french keyboard, it works in english when reseting by default, but when i switch to french and reasign, "d" does not work, but "a" is ok

Hi!
We just released an update yesterday which addresses some issues with the fishing controls.
You might have to reset your keybindings, this can be done by following these steps: go to the game’s menu, open the “Controls” tab and choose the first option from the list (“Show controls”). Scroll to the very bottom of the list and choose the option “reset to default”. Close the menu and check if you are able to play the fishing mini-game without a problem now.

Glad to hear it. Unfortunatelly, when reassigning to ZQSD because i live in France, it still does not work. The solution is to switch to english keyboard in windows and its ok.

We've just updated the Epic version with achievements and a fix for french keyboard settings. Hope that helps! Thanks for being patient :)

please make a display as to where you're throwing the fishing line, also i found the bellow one, can't find the other two, kept finding the dopey one as well
