Am I just not allowed to alt-tab?

Whenever I alt tab out of the game, I can't get back in afterwards. Is there a way to mitigate this? It's really annoying when I'm trying to quickly reply to a Discord convo, only to be locked out of my game.

see if theres a "borderless window" option in graphics/display options. Idk for sure since I never played, im just checking the page out but thought id try to help.

This game is ancient, there's no borderless option. My only option would be to use windowed mode, but the only way to move the camera around is to touch the edges with the cursor, which would be clunky af.

oh boy, yeah that sounds like a headache and a half.
I have one more suggestion. Maybe right clicking on the games exe. file >Properties>Compatibility>Disable fullscreen optimizations. That might allow you to alt tab after. Good luck! Hope you figure it out, sorry I couldnt be more help

When I leave the game when there is modification, I can't go back to the game it crashes because there is a modification icon a I don't know why but is crashes after a while. Can they help me get the game icon back, not the modification icon?

Just in case you're still looking for a fix:
1) Open your game folder
2) Open em4deluxe.cfg file with wordpad or some other text editor
3) Use search to find following statement:

r_fullscreen

4) This line should mark up:

<var name="r_fullscreen" value="1" />

5) Change 1 in value to 0, so it looks following way:

<var name="r_fullscreen" value="0" />

I think it works like fullscreen borderless or windowed fullscreen ?, but at least you can alt tab now.

Try this to remap camera keys to WASD. It may help with that.

I already have, haha. Tweaked some settings here and there. Unsure if alt tabbing works or not still.
