Game Crash on Start

Hi,

I am experiencing the same crash that a couple of other usres have reported, where my game starts with a black screen, and then kicks me back to the desktop.

I have tried all the suggested things, including updating my graphics drivers, reinstalling DirectX 9, and verifying the files in Steam. Interestingly, when I do that last step, Steam always has to redownload either 1 or 2 files, every time I verify the files after actually trying to start the game up.

Here's a brief rundown of my specs:

Win 7 (64-bit)
NVIDIA GTX 770
8 Gb RAM

I really hope we can get this sorted out, as I was really looking forward to playing around with DorfMod Germersheim... :)

maybe your monitor or pc can't handle the old resolutions, did you try to change the cfg beforehand?

My monitor/PC should be okay, as I work wirth several oldschool games (outside of Steam) on a regular basis... :)

I had the same problem. But I installed the K-Lite Codec Pack and that did it. You can get it here:

Hi guys, thanks for trying to help me out. Sadly though, in spite of trying everything, nothing seems to have fixed my problem.

Unless one of the devs can come up with something, it looks like I'm going to have to ask for a refund...

da wird nichts gepatcht bei der cd version gabs auch kein patch

Please contact [e-mail] and send us the logfile from the installation folder. It should contain error messages that would help us!

Well, I tried to get a refund, but Steam said no, because I was a few days over the 14 day period. This, as I explained in my refund request, was because I was working with the devs to try and get the game to start.

Moving on from that, I still have hope that I might actually be able to get Emergency 4 working one day. I'll be getting a new PC (hopefully) later this summer, so we'll see if it will work on that.

Now though, what other configuration tools are there out there? The devs seemed to indicate that there were others, besides the Emergency 4 Configurator 0.4b, which is what I tried, and which failed to help me start the game. Also, any other ideas on what I should try to do, that I have not already done?

So far, I have tried using that configurator, installing the K-Lite codec pack, and editing the config file manually.
