I dunno if I believe that. Is so that's BS cause this dumb app hasn't been fixed in 2 years!
You can always try to download the 360 videos from YT and play them with another VR media player from your SSD but I am not sure if they work properly. I haven't tried it myself. I just persisted in learning this app and use it for streaming. I mostly use it for 2D videos tho. They look cool on the big screen in the dark room without the fuss of always putting them on full screen.

I have just tested it and this app plays Youtube 360 videos but you need to adjust the settings every time you play a video. You also need to click the button "play in full screen".
Weird, I tried this last night and couldn't get it to work. Do you just use to browser within gizmo and navigate to youtube there, then play a video and hit the square button that makes it full screen?
What about 180 videos?
Yes, it is like you said " use to browser within gizmo and navigate to youtube there, then play a video and hit the square button that makes it full screen"
Also, when the video plays in full screen, you need to get to the video options (I press the trigger button for the UI to appear and then click the gear wheel icon) and manually select 180, or 360 if the video plays wrongly from the start.
Sometimes you might need to select the other options too like SBS or UO for the video to play properly. You can also select the video quality and volume from the same interface.
You need to do this every time for every video you play, because it seems Gizmo uses its own conversion page to paste the link to so it will be able to decode it.

Here is a suggestion to search youtube for a cool 360 travel videos channel: AirPano
It has 4k 5k 8k 12k videos.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnWIinWpgEg&t=3s
the video only has 1080p and 720p to select, and full screen is a screen window in the font, change it to 180 make it blurry and wrong aspect ratio
