Is there a fix for this ? I have the same problem.
The only options are windowed and borderless with a max resolution of 1680x945.
Changing resolution, switching windowed/borderless and restarting the game many time didn't solve the problem.

The issue is still there, I switch to borderless and then restart and nothing happened.

Edit: Fixed; Right click on the .exe file, select properties
Select the Compatibility tab
Under Settings -> Click on 'Change high DPI settings'

Under High DPI scaling override ->

Check/tick 'Override high DPI scaling behaviour.'

Scaling performed by choose "Application".
Click OK , then click Apply.

Hello i am using the 3440x1440p monitor and i found a way to fill the black bars so it may work on you as well here is what i do
i go to nvidia control panel change my resolution to 1080p ultra hd,hd,sd(imporant) since it changes my desktop resoultion and it leaves no black bars and then i can open the game on full screen with no black bars once the game is open u can switch back to 3440x1440
i hope it works for you too
