FAQ
Here are answers to some frequently asked questions about The World Next Door.

Is there a demo?
Yes! We have a free demo you can download from our Steam page.

Is there multiplayer?
Also yes! We added 1v1 local multiplayer puzzle battles.

Are there achievements?
There are— You can view all the achievements here. (Some are a secret, of course.)

Does this game have multiple endings?
Without spoiling anything, there are multiple pathways that will give you different information about the characters and world. Who you talk to and how you talk to them will impact how the story plays out. The best way to see everything in the game is to make sure you talk to everyone you can each day.

How long is the game?
On average, the game runs between 3-5 hours depending on if you explore all the side quests as well as the main story.

Is it replayable?
Definitely! You can replay the game to experience new pathways and earn any achievements that you may have missed.

Is there a chapter select after you finish the game?
There is no chapter select, so make sure and be mindful of the choices you make as you play!

Will there be a sequel?
We'd really love to revisit Emrys and continue Jun's story. If there's enough support for the game and the characters, we have a lot of ideas for more games in the series.

What's up with the comic?
Our team also worked on a prequel comic book as a companion piece for the game! The story takes place right before the events in the game, so it's a great jumping off point (or a good read if you're looking to spend a bit more time with Jun and friends.)

When does the game save?
The game auto-saves at every loading screen as well as after most conversations, battles, and item pick-ups.

Does the game support controllers?
Yes, the game supports a wide variety of gamepads.

Can I remap controls?
As of right now there is not a way to remap controls. If you're struggling with keyboard controls, we'd recommend playing with a gamepad. You can also toggle “Assist Mode” on at any time during the game for tougher battles.

Does it run at 60 FPS?
Yes— You can also limit the frame rate to 60 FPS in settings.

Does it support 4K / Ultrawide monitors?
We’re currently only targeting a 16:9 ratio at 1920x1080p.

What engine did you build it in?
We built this in Unity3D, the same engine we’re making Floppy Knights in.

Any plans to support Linux / Mac?
There is MacOS support, but we currently do not have plans for a Linux version of the game.
