Sadly that is just a PDF, not very beautiful. But it's actually nice to read.
But there you will find an answer to this and other problems.
Sidenote: I miss the ingame hint system from Myst 4 :(
Each colour is a set voltage value...can't remember exactly...like 5-10-15 or something so i made a loop where all the elements lit up and then checked the voltage...was like 120 or something so i swapped out one colour for another and was good.
There may actually be a proper clue for the exact layout, but i just figured it out like this.
Thanks, i think that was what i was missing, the element on top that lights up, i did not notice that and will pay closer attention.

That was the same in game hint I missed as well!
Edit:
I've also not found any mention of circuits or voltage values aside from the scribble on the main power switch. There are no visible hints.
I think the energy flow of a battery only goes one way.

Is there a pamphlet or something like with the broken rail part at the vault section?
