Ice block - glitch or puzzle?
I'm only asking because I've had some glitches with the crane already - going into the mountain and getting stuck, then coming out but with the grasping part of the crane left stuck in the mountain, really obvious glitches like that.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS MAYBE?

I'm trying to get on top of the ice block. I've tried raising it up to the upper level and jumping on to it but I can't. I've tried lowering it down and getting to it via the lower level bridge but I can't. Without going into too much detail... should this be working? Because it really looks like it should work - there's no handrails in just the part of the platform where I would get on the ice, for example. Is this a glitch? Like, should it be working but the crane is glitchy? Or am I off base?

i don't want to get the answer given away, I just want to make sure I'm not wasting my time when the solution is bugged.

EDIT: OMG I'm such an idiot. Just figured it out. Sorry guys.

It IS kinda obvious once you figure it out. Or once you accidentally see a screenshot somewhere that connects the dots for you. (sigh) I felt stoooooopid. :D

I feel like there's this kind of Myst Traumatic Stress Disorder where you play a Cyan game and you go around like, "Is this a hint? Is that a hint? Is this pebble a key to the puzzle? What about this little dab of sunlight. Is that a hint? Is EVERYTHING a hint??? I have a 42-step plan to solve this puzzle." and then you're like... "Oh... there's a button here." and you feel like an idiot.

I'm dyin' over here. :)

I've got a lovely little leather journal for note-taking in games, and I started an entire section for Firmament. I'm writing down everything, and I'm already finding most of what I'm writing will probably be useless.

Plus, why does Cyan taunt us with a TON of BOOKS lying around that aren't READABLE? Just the same two books everywhere. :) Drawers that don't open. Nothing to pick up. They have me well trained from the past three decades, that's for sure. ;)

Ah yes, a lovely little leather journal; that's what I should start calling my piles of pieces of scrap paper. :)

To be fair, I'm definitely more prone to using scraps of paper. But my daughter-in-law gifted me this journal specifically for game-playing notes. Still took me more than a year to get up the gumption to actually start using it. :)

Like a spoiled brat I gave up on my own efforts on the ice block and went on YouTube to get the solution. After the ice block position is solved it's basically pod travel that takes you to all major regions. But then of course are possibly tough puzzles required to get to all the smaller cool places within those regions.

Yeah, having gotten a lot further now, I think it's a really well designed puzzle because it's really just a string of little puzzles in a row. So you're always interested because you keep getting a little hit of accomplishment every time you complete one of the little puzzles.

I found this thread, and this phrase:
> EDIT: OMG I'm such an idiot. Just figured it out. Sorry guys.
was all I needed.

But. Really. C'mon, I played URU, I *totally* could've done that without doing the thing I had to do. :-)
