Absolute minimum requirements?
I saw in another thread that one of the devs said the minimum requirements listed on the Steam page were chosen based on the expectation that Cyan fans will be expecting a high-quality visual experience. Unfortunately, certain components of my current system don't meet those requirements, and I don't have the option to upgrade or get a new computer at the moment. If I disregarded any desire for a pleasing visual experience and was willing to accept a frame rate comparable to the original releases of most Myst games (i.e. a slideshow), what would be the absolute minimum system requirements needed to run Firmament?

Also, before anyone asks what my system's specs are, I'm not going to share them because they are irrelevant to my question. I'm not asking if my system can run it, I'm asking what the absolute minimum system requirements are for the game, where the game will refuse to run or physically cannot run on anything less than them (overheating is considered acceptable as long as it takes more than an hour to bluescreen on average).

I mean, it seems like you are asking if your system can run it.

If you aren't willing to share your systems specs then you're probably not going to get a whole lot from your question.

I'm trying to ask this question in a way that would also be useful to other people and not just me.

Generally system spec requirements are just based on what systems they tested a game on by the developers. So going below what they've tested is Caveat Emptor. You're now the lab rat who needs to test the game within the refund period to see if you can set the options to determine whether it can run below the listed minimum requirements. So testing it out on your system and finding out it works means you can list your system specs to help others who have similar or slightly more powerful builds to your own.

Unless the devs programmed hard limits on supported hardware and the game won't even launch on hardware below those thresholds. I've played games like that before, and I'd rather not waste time filling up my hard drive only to erase it when it won't launch.

I'm playing with no issues on my rig: 24GB RAM, with a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti card and a 500W power supply. It's otherwise just a regular ol' business Dell PC with Win10. No glitching or stuttering so far. Very happy about that. Wasn't ready to upgrade that graphics card just yet. :)

How much Ram does your 1050 Ti have?

You're welcome! So far, so great on my unimpressive computer specs. ;)

I have ryzen 7 1200 with 16 ram and a gtx 1060 and it runs fine even on epic

When recommended is a 1080ti (12gb) and Minimum is listed as a GTX 1070 8GB you can most likely play this fine with way lower spec cards.
Wish the store page had a 3rd "spec" sheet so devs could put the real minimum hardware / os the game will run with.

I am happy to report that I am able to play Firmament on my ancient hardware: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (3.00GHz), 8 GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7750 (1 GB), SATA SSD. I let the automatic detection choose the graphics settings for my resolution of 1920x1200, and it is not just a slideshow. The textures are washed out and the graphics look like a cell-shaded comic style. I can move with a framerate that is not stellar, but I was not expecting to start or even play Firmament on that computer at all, so I am not complaining.

(In case you're wondering: I got Firmament on GOG, not on Steam.)

Hello there, I have been waiting for this game for a while, but now not sure I can run it...
If someone that made it with similar specs I would appreciate the feedback :)

I have: Intel Core i5-6300HQ 2.30GHz, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GTX 970 M, on Windows 10 x64.
Many thanks

The game's Minimum System Requirements are:

OS: Windows 10
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Eight-Core Processor (16 CPUs), ~3.7GHz; Intel i5 7000 series
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700XT; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB

It looks like your specs aren't quite up the minimum.
