To the beta VR users.

Despite all the shimmer readings and adjustments I did for on BoX, the shimmer was still in my POV not acceptable. Deleted the whole BoX series and did the move to DCS-WW2 but here the shimmer is much bigger. While in the VR race games RFc2/AMs2/ACC/AC the whole shimmer is very low, so my mid range RTX3070 & VR headset is capable to handle VR games without shimmer.

Not being that rich guy, I'm afraid to make the same mistake when buying Clod, so before buying Clod: how is the shimmer in VR mode if this being compared to DCS and BoX series?

VR hasn‘t been released yet. If your buying CloD is conditioned to VR, as it seems, my advice would be to wait until VR is released, buy it (the bundle with Tobruk maybe even), try it within the Steam return window and either return it or keep, depending on how you like VR in this.

Right now there is no answering your question without either being a beta tester yourself (requires you own Blitz and Tobruk) or a beta tester saying things they are not allowed to bit only based on other people‘s experiences.
Or maybe one of the devs shime in to say what the general picture regarding shimmering is.

Currently Cliffs is 50% off. Buzzsaw welcomes beta testers so you could purchase it at half price and offer to beta test, add your input and if shimmer is an issue you can bug report it and get it fixed?

Cliffs of Dover Blitz and the expansion Tobruk, cost less than £20 currently as a bundle....I mean that's worth the entrance fee especially with Truesky, VR and a huge graphics update inbound.

I’ve just purchased CloD & Tobruk and would like to participate in the VR beta - I’ve joined the IL-2 forums so I can provide HMD ownership proof but I’m not allowed to DM Buzzsaw there.

Of the two forum posts I made yesterday, both are still withheld and require moderator approval and attempting to DM Buzzsaw gives me a “you are allowed 0 messages per day” pop-up.

Is there a step I’m missing or does newbie approval just take time over there?

What VR headset are you using?

"shimmer" ... I don't notice that in IL-2 GB VR (dunno about Clod VR) ... but maybe this may have more to do with various settings. I have, in IL-2 GB, everything on ULTRA settings and Virtual Desktop at High or ULTRA. I am 100% sure that a.o. compression can cause an effect that can be described as 'shimmer'. ps. I have tested an upscaling mod that worked fine to increase FPS, but intoduces 'shimmer' in landscape ... also in racing games.
