my plane consistently rolls to the right
no matter what i do what setting i change it always rolls to the right and while i can manage to fly it to the mission area it is really difficult to aim at an enemy plane
it never happened to me in BOX

depending on what aircraft you fly you have to map rudder and elivator trim, some aircraft dont have both.

Engine torque likely depending on the AC. Have to trim it out.
RAF74_Buzzsaw Aug 7, 2020 @ 10:07pm
The aircraft require trim adjustments depending on the speed, throttle setting and rpm of the engine.

Otherwise they will skid sideways and shooting will be difficult.

You can turn down the difficulty settings and avoid this problem if you want.

Open the game, go to Options, then to Realism, then uncheck all the boxes under "Engines" and under "Atmosphere and Handling".

There are also other sections where you can remove limitations on ammunition, etc.

tried it and it had no affect on the rolling issue

Are you sure your stick is calibrated? Probably is since now a days most sticks dont require much in the way of calibration but something you might check. Make sure your stick or rudder isnt pulling that way because of calibration.
Not sure if you are using rudder pedals or what.

Just a thought.

First, you calibrate in Windows. Follow below directions:

Right click on the Windows icon in the lower left. Type into the search box: "Control Panel"

The go to "Hardware and Sound" and click on "View Devices and Printers".

Now right click on your joystick, and select "Game Controller Settings"

Then select "Properties"

Click on the "Settings" tab, then on 'Calibrate'.

Follow the directions and click 'Finish' and then 'Apply'.

--

Now exit and start your game.

Go to Options, then Controls.

Go to Category 'Aircraft', and select 'Axes'.

Then select the control surface you want to program. In this case Ailerons.

Right click on the Command Box and then move your joystick to the left. The game will recognize the axes.

Below you will see Sensitivity and Deadzone settings as well as 'In' and 'Out' showing where the joystick reads.

All this is in the "Getting Started and Troubleshooting Guide" which is in the main IL-2 folder on your computer in the 'Manuals' folder.

Thank you i will try it soon

I'm having the same exact issue on two different computers. Joysticks have been calibrated in Windows on both. The planes still roll to the right. I've always assumed it is a realistic torque effect sue to the spinning props.

After going round and round on this topic for over a year, I'm pretty sure the issue is that the box to disable torque effects isn't actually functional. Maybe a previous patch "un-fixed" this box.

And before others chime in about trim: I understand trim and use it regularly. :-) The problem is, the majority of the planes in the game don't have aileron trim. For example, the Tiger Moth and Hurricane have only elevator trim. The Spitfire has elevator and (I think) rudder trim. So you can't trim yourself out of the constant right roll.

You can apply rudder to trim the aircraft... but that is manual application of your rudder pedals or twist rudder.

Hurricane or Spitfire, apply rudder trim to correct tendency to roll.

I fly mine hands off with no problem.

Then start a mission with a Hurricane at 75% fuel and you'll fly right wing low, but your gauges tell you that the central (reserve) tank is depleted.
Not quite sure what you mean here.

If you load 75% fuel, you get 75% fuel, (about 70 gallons), with the main tanks full. 66 gal, and a small drop in the reserve tank. Wing drop is very small.
I use rudder trim to clear any sideslip.

Hello duckweed

In the case of the Spitfire and Hurricane, the roll to the right is corrected by using Rudder Trim... not aileron trim. (which doesn't exist on the two aircraft)

Remember that default trim is set by the manufacturer for cruise conditions in level flight... not full throttle or maximum rpm.

That means typically for the types running 100 octane fuel, the aircraft is at 2750 rpm and +6 boost.

if you are running other than those settings, you will need to adjust your trim. If you are in a high speed dive or a low speed climb, you will need to adjust your trim.
