Framerates?
I have just installed CLOD and im a little disappointed with the way my system presents it. The frame rates are really low and the game feels laggy. Compared to how smooth Rise of Flight runs on my machine I am wondering if its something that I can sort in the settings? Im a bit green when it comes to this so any advoce would be appreciated.

My machine has an i5-6300hq quad core 2.3ghz CPU/ Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB GPU/ 8GB DDR4 RAM and 128GB SSD.

Your CPU is a little slow but what are your settings in game and the Nvidia CP? There is a lot of info on BoX fourms and ATAG forums, with lots of things you could try:

You could start here but there a a lot of threads dedicated to FPS.

Unfortunately flight sims are CPU intensive. All the flight models and damage models are being calculated for you and all the AI in-game. At least you have a good graphics card to add a better processer to. I have a 6600k o.c'd to 4.2. And my system stutters a little in multi-player.
But I will also add that this sim could have been coded better. Coding seems to be a lost art. At least where flight sims are concerned.

Gaming on the laptop I would make sure you are forcing the 1060 to run the game and not the IGPU on the i5-6300hq. Should be able to right click on the game icon and run with NVIDIA. ROE is easier to run than CLOD. Another thing with laptops is to have all that energy saving stuff set to high performance when it is plugged in.

Hi AtomQuark, I have tried what you suggested and cant seem to get anywhere. My GPU does not seem to be doing much when I look at the stats. There is no load on it from what I can see. When I play Rise of Flight the fans start running etc and the machine gets hotter the sim is as smooth as anything, not so when im playing CLOD blitz? Any more ideas as to how I can find out if the game is optimising my hardware?

As much as I love CLOD, and I think I love it more than IL-2 BOS graphically and gameplay wise I hate the fact performance is awful when there are a group of bombers or battle going around, it will struggle no matter what CPU you have.

My GPU usage is mostly around 80%, and what's strange is none of my CPU cores hit 100%, CPU cores are around 30%, 50%, 70%, etc. so the game engine doesn't utilize the full power of the hardware.

I'm mostly having over 60 fps in battle, and it is usually around ~90-120 fps when things are calm, but when fps goes down suddenly from +100 to sub 70s 60s it feels awful since I'm playing on 144Hz monitor, I hope the new team can come up with something and optimize the game.

@Artaxeus: Flight sim are not kind to CPU's, your FPS are similar to mine, but better in a battle. Mine may drop down to the 50's from 150 if it is large enough. I put Vsync to FAST in the Nvidia CP and don't notice the changes in FPS now.

I know, but in this case the game will struggle no matter which CPU you have, the game engine isn't utilizing the full hardware power IMO, I'm sure even if you had a theorical future CPU the fps will drop badly in battles.

I have constant 100+ FPS in IL-2 BOS ultra settings with 4k textures at 2k resolution, and it doesn't drop from 150s to 60s like it does in CLOD, my point is, BOS is a newer and optimized better, unfortunately CLOD was rushed and released broken.
