Unplayable performance on high-end pc
Is anyone else struggling to get this game to run somewhat playable?

I'm not even asking much, just 2560x1080@60fps running on a damn RTX 4080, 12th gen I5 and 32GB of ram. I expect to run an indie game like this no problem. But the reality is that the starting area struggled to keep above 30 fps and my brief visit to Attlerock was made basically unplayable at less than 10 fps even struggling to register key presses.

As far as i could find there doesn't seem to be a solution to this. I've tried toggling V-sync and running in windowed/full-screen. doesn't seem to have any noticeable effect. Also don't have any integrated graphics to it can't be trying to run the game on there.

Task manager isn't reporting the CPU or GPU to be utilized much at all. I'm at loss, anyone else have similar issues?

I guess i won't be playing this game in the meantime...

That's definitely strange.
Runs pretty smooth on my GTX 1080 in 1920x1080.

(Just because it's an indie doesn't mean it should be easy to run - this game does some nutty physics calculations constantly, and many "indie" games are poorly optimized because they lack the resources or experience to streamline things. But still, you should be seeing better performance.)

Given everything else you've tried and mentioned, I presume you've updated your graphics drivers already?
Is it running off an SSD?
How long did you play? Did it seem to get better\worse as you played?
Did you have any unusual peripherals plugged in?
Did you attempt to contact Mobius support directly?
While you were playing, were you making this face, :Hearthian_Shocked:, or this face, :Hearthian_Cry:?

yeah you're right, indie is not the same as "easy to run". Might have been taking my frustrations out a bit. The game is running off an 970 Evo NVME drive, no issues there. I've played for a few hours hoping it would get better once i left the starting area. Things only got worse however. To the point that it basically froze to less than 1 fps while attempting to land my ship.

Haven't contacted support yet, figured i'd see if anyone else has had similar issues first. Will probably issue a ticket.

Doubt any of my peripherals are causing issues, but i'll try unplugging things to make sure.
Drivers are up-to-date, and due to the terrible performance my face was mostly the sad one. Which is a shame as I am actually interested in the game.

no idea what changed, but the issue seems to have gone away on it's own, rock-solid 60 fps with V-sync 200-300 without (but along with the stuttering issue i've seen more people having issues with).

Hooray i guess, hope it doesn't come back. Will report on it if it does.

Weird. Glad to hear it seems to have sorted itself out.
