As for the base game, absolutely buy it, it's the best game you'll ever play if you're a little bit curious.
Cons? Parts of the DLC are dark, in a literal, sometimes pitch-black sense. If you're like me and hate not being able to see where you're going or what you're doing, the DLC can be vexing at times. Still, I love it despite that drawback, and the ending to that side story made the occasional frustration worth it.
You can buy the DLC now and not even worry about it. You won't accidentally stumble into it. The game tells you there's a "New Exhibit" in the museum. So unless you start pulling the threads for the new exhibit clearly marked as such, there is pretty much zero chance you are going to find it.
Go into this game blind... :)
... Let alone the DLC has the same -- sometimes even better quality than the base game. If you enjoy the base, you will also love DLC
(The most important thing: DO NOT WATCH/READ ANY VIDEOS/SPOILERS/ARTICLES... UNTIL YOU 100% FINISH THE GAME!!!!!just... do not listen to anyone talking about the game content... please don't...
