I can't get an achievement

I'm trying to 100% Outer Wilds, but the EOTE achievement "You'll never take me alive" is annoying. I did it both ways. I drowned as an owl-man's hand was in my face, same with falling to my death, where he was somehow even closer, and I still didn't get the achievement. They didn't catch me, I for sure

I think it has to be in the Hidden Gorge (as there are no other places from where you can fall from high enough(?)), and it might also require falling into water while holding the artifact.

I did that. In the shrouded woodlands or whatever it's called, (The place that's not in rocks or has a tower) I jumped into the sea as an owlman was about to get me. In the cliffs, I jumped to my death inside, as an owlman was also about to get me. Both times holding the artifact

As in, jumped to your death to water, or to fall damage?

In either case, i think your pursuer might need to be in the "dash" state? And since reduced frights prevents them from dashing until they're basically in grabbing range, if you have that option active it might make getting the achievement a lot more difficult.

I think the most consistent place to get the achievement is in the room leading up to the thing you need to activate to make the in-building bridge (and might require lighting up that bridge? I'm not sure.). You can jump into the water to the left of the bridge activator.


The exact conditions are pretty confusing, sorry if i'm not of much help.

Both, jumped into water, and off an ledge. They were in their dash state, and in the one where I jumped off an ledge onto a hard floor, killing me, the Owlman's hand almost noclipped through my face

Just to be sure, their dash state is when they're fast as hell, and their hand is reaching out towards you, right?

Didn't you say you met what you thought to be the requirements twice?
Once in the Shrouded Woodlands, where you fell in the water, and once in the Endless Canyon, where you didn't specify how you "died" (which i would then guess to be fall damage)?

Just to be absolutely sure, have you ever jumped off a ledge from the Endless Canyon lodge (specifically the room leading up to the in-lodge bridge activator) and landed in water after a stranger dashed at you?

I haven't, and yes I did die to fall damage. First I jumped into the water as it was reaching out to me in the shrouded woodlands, and when that didn't give me the achievement, I went to the endless canyon, got the owlman's attention (The one that's on the top floor of the giant house) and jumped off the railing down to the bottom floor, (Where the painting, you have to make disappear in order to get the Archive) and died

If you haven't done that i'd recommend trying to specifically jump off a ledge into water after a stranger dashes at you from the Endless Canyon room that leads up to the in-lodge bridge activator.

That's how i got it and how most people seem to get it (i activated the in-lodge bridge because i thought it was a requirement, but i'm not sure if it actually is). It's weirdly specific.

If you're interested, i happen to know a slightly speedrunny way to get into the achievement-relevant room, which is as follows : Go to the invisible bridge leading to the lodge extinguisher, and look at the lodge-side cliff. There should be a part of the lodge inside the cliff face slightly below and to the right of the invisible bridge. It's possible to jump from the invisible bridge into it, though it's fairly precise.
