"Reduced Frights"
I often play this game in the library, which is a silent one. Is there anything that would cause me to have an audible reaction, like a scream, or more often for me, a gasp. I'm wondering if I should use the reduced frights option while playing in the library. Thanks, and no spoilers please!

For the main game there is a planet where you can get jumpscares.
The reduce fright option is for the DLC only, it doesn't change the visuals, but change the speed of something making it less annoying/stressful, it may be scary the first time but not as much after, this only happen in a "second part" of the DLC, you should know what I mean when it happens. In this second part you will also hear a specific noise when you switch off lights.
I tried to be as spoilerless as possible. If you want more details let us know.
The only planet that is likely to cause an audible reaction is Dark Bramble. It's not really a jump scare, but imagine the kind of thing you get with low visibility.

The DLC definitely has a higher chance of making someone gasp. There's no jump scares, but it's pretty tense if you're the kind of person to be sensitive to that. But if you stay away from the DLC, which I recommend for a first playthrough anyway, you should be OK.

To stay away from the DLC, simply don't do anything involving the clues at the radio tower

Already beat the base-game, but thanks anyways. The area Bobywan was talking about is the dark mirror-world dream thing in the Stranger, right?
Yes, that's right. Again, there's no jump scares in the DLC, but it's got that same horror game dynamic of not being seen being your only defense against being killed. Reduced fright, AFAIK, just reduces the number of people walking around making those segments easier and less tense.

No, as Bobywan mentioned, it only reduces their speed, as well as the distance at which they start sprinting. The amount isn't affected. It also removes a few spooky noises here and there.

Yes that's right, that's that other world. You can hear a characteristic noise when you switch off the lights in 2 of the 4 areas, and that's also the signal where it triggers kind of spooky things. In one of the areas, you have a small puzzle to cross a bridge and the spooky things can be found beyond that bridge.
But I still consider it's not as scary as the anglerfish, nothing is going to eat you there.
There is no spooky things in the stranger itself otherwise.
