How to save?
There is no save menu, and after playing about half an hour, I haven't encountered any save points. Is there any way to save this game?

We're trying not to give too much away!

Seeing the statue is not the start of the game, there's a second event that looks very similar to it, just don't exit before then. You will experience it pretty soon.

After then you'll realise why you don't need to worry about these questions! but until then you'll have to go and get the codes because you're playing a brand new game each time

The game auto save after each loop once you oassed by the statue at the observatory.
The only things you retain from each loop are logs stored in the ship.

Autosave is automatic, whenever you see "Ship Log Updated"

You can consider the village a tutorial, the game hasn't properly started yet. If you need to quit there's nothing that needs to be done a second time when you pick it back up

To the previous comment: By their question it's best to assume they don't know about a loop yet!

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Just play for a longer time and you'll understand the save system, if you haven't played the game since you posted this.
You should get the codes, play for half an hour again, and you'll understand.
lol

I started, did everything in the village, left, went to the moon above the first planet, did a bunch of stuff up there, then came back to the first planet in search of the music playing there, had to go, no option to save presented, assumed there was some sort of autosave, left, came back and had to restart from scratch. What did I miss?

Did you have to go back to that one guy and ask for launch codes again?

Okay after about 5 minutes on the moon a new event happened so Im guessing this is the thing that will fix me this time, but I played for 2 hoursish last time and was not presented with the posibility to save
Well, there is an autosave feature. You will not ever be able to manually save. Just so we're on the same page, you mind telling me what happened in that "event" with the spoiler formatting? Don't worry, I finished the game.

On the moon a loud noise happened accompanied by a bunch of particles or beams of energy rushing into the "sky" followed by a slide reel of my time in game since the statue laser eyed me and then I woke up back in timber whatever [/spoiier]
You died. The game saves everytime you die. The only thing that saves in between lives is your ship log. You ALWAYS wake up/load from your bed
