Does time pause while watching the reels in EOTE?
I have the option to pause time enabled for ship log and translator use, and I was wondering if this causes the time to pause while watching the reels in the EOTE DLC. Does anyone know?

I don't think so.

It does. If you want to make sure, shoot the scout directly upwards, quickly go inside and view the reels. If the scout hud marker stops moving, time stops. (In the event there's no hud markers during slide viewing, wait a while, then stop viewing the slide and take a photo. if the photo shows the scout in mid-air, time stopped.)

I wonder if they changed that, I'm pretty sure it didn't used to - I remember the light doors closing and opening I think?

I noticed it in someone's playthrough recently - they started watching a reel just as "a big event" was happening, and then when they left the "big event" was still going on, even though it clearly should have been over if time wasn't stopped.
I wonder if it's effected by the settings to pause time when translating or during conversations.

it is adjustable in the options menu both for conversations and reading.

A cycle ended while I was looking at a reel. So I don't believe time stops.

If you're at the point where end music is playing, time won't stop reading no matter the settings either. It's so the song actually lines up right.

But I could have sworn I saw some youtube video of someone being hit by the flood water during a slide reel and had the door open and close for me. But it sounds like it pauses now, even if it didn't before.

The Pre-flight Checklist setting "Freeze Time While Translating Text" also determines whether time is paused when viewing slide reels.

As previously mentioned, once the End Times music starts playing, time will not freeze for conversations, the ship log, or translations\reels regardless of the setting.

It actually says in the settings menu where you turn on the time pause, that it does not always work. When the big event is happening is specifically what they are referring to. Once the music starts playing, interactions will no longer pause time, regardless if you are reading a text or talking to somebody or watching a reel.

I was actually referring to a different "big event" that's midway through the loop.

Ah my bad. It would make sense that that one can't be paused as well, due to its nature.

My original wording must have been confusing. It DID pause, as expected for having that setting enabled.
