Is this a roguelike?
I died during the tutorial (yes, I wanted to play in the gyser) and it threw me back to the main menu without a save. If I die dozens of hours into the game, do I have to start all over again?

You won't have to repeat the whole "go to the observatory" affair, no. But this is a timeloop game (as mentioned in the store page), and you will start at the campfire every time, right next to your spaceship.

Yes and no.

You start at the beginning but you keep what you know, which is basically the only thing there is to obtain

Alrighty! I guess this means being careful around anything even remotely dangerous.

Quite the opposite. Every loop has a finite duration, so if you're going to have to loop anyway, you may as well take risks to get as much information as possible first.

SPOILER-FREE HINT: no, it's not at all a rogue-like. This is a hand-crafted solar system with a mystery to solve. Where to begin? Well, why do you restart at the campfire? Why is there a time limit? And just what the heck is that blue-white flash overhead in front of that giant green planet???

Have fun and DM me for more SPOILER-FREE HINTS!!!

Thanks, but I'll pass. The game makes sense after that specific encounter in the observatory with a certain stone object. I really don't think you're supposed to die before that though.

Yeah dying before that is treated differently - I think it boots you to the menu and makes you really start over again.

You need to put some work into falling off a cliff to do it though, the village is a lot less dangerous than the rest of the solar system.
